A note from the translator:

Born in 1986 in a village in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, Mayilan G Chinnappan is a prolific writer in Tamil with a focus on narrative fiction. He is a neurosurgeon by profession. His journey through the realms of medicine and literature has shaped a unique body of work that intertwines the precision of surgical procedures with the artistry of storytelling.

Mayilan made his remarkable literary debut in 2020 with Prabhakaranin Postmortem, a medical thriller that delves into the intricacies of the human psyche. Since then, he has published three collections of short stories Nooru Roobilgal, Anaamatheya kathaigal, Sirungaaram) and a novella (Muppogam). In 2023, he was awarded the title of “Inspiring Icon for Literature” by Puthiya Thalaimurai, a leading Tamil news channel.  In the same year, he received the CODISSIA Young Writers Award (Fiction) for his short story collection Sirungaaram. Mayilan lives and works as a neurosurgeon in Tiruchirappalli, a major urban centre in Tamil Nadu.
